What is APGAR scores ? and Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy .

Simply the APGAR score is a score suggest the baby status , determining whether the baby is breathing well or not , also it determines the degree of asphyxia if present . 

In the above image we can see the items of APGAR score , we give the baby a certain number depending on its wellness in every item which are:

1- Heart Rate 

2- Respiratory effort 

3- Color 

4- Muscle tone 

5- Reflex irritability 

Number is given for each item thus scoring is obtained with the highest 10 ( 2 for each item which is the maximum number ) and the lowest 0 . 

Hypoxic ischemic Encephalopathy : 

In cases of brain injury or low oxygen supply for the baby for minutes , the baby is clinically presented by manifestations of neurological system .
