What is tall stature ?
Tall stature is accurately estimated
by growth curves , in growth curve tall stature is above 95th
percentile .
What are the causes of tall stature ?
There are 2 types of tall stature to
be considered proportionate and disproportionate .
Proportionate tall stature is mainly
genetic , familial. It may be endocrinal like excess growth hormone , precocious puberty or simple obesity .

Disproportionate tall stature is
mainly in the Marfan syndrome where the arm spam exceeds the height ( normal
the ratio between the arm spam and the height is 1:1 )

Obesity is estimated by body mass
index on growth curves it is higher than the 95th percentile .
