Causes of Brain asphyxia in a newly born ( neonate ) , Why the baby does not respond to resuscitation ?

In many occasions after we do resuscitation to a newly born neonate the neonate does not respond to all the steps we do , here there is a serious pathology or failure in the technique of resuscitation steps itself . The causes of failure may be :

1- Neonatal problems :

1- Central apnea : it means that the problem is in the respiratory center responsible for coordination of the respiratory process  as intra cranial hemorrhage or severe hypoxia .

2- Airway obstruction : here the problem ay be laryngeal spasm , stenosis (narrowing in the airway canal ) or extensive secretions .

3- Lung pathology : as lung hypoplasia , diaphragmatic hernia ( herniation of the gut content above the level of diaghragm ) or pneumothorax ( air in the chest due to perforation in the lung tissue ) .

4- Severe hypovolemia and shock .

2- Wrong technique in resuscitation :

1- Delay in the start in resuscitation is a very serious problem which leads to death in the brain tissue in severe cases if prolonged delay .

2- Obstruction in the tube of the procedure .

3- Displaced tube also is a possible cause.
